Brief | To design an iPad interface to be used in the museum

The interface was designed to be able to be viewed in both Arabic and English. The idea was to be able to view projects that came under the nine headings of Culture, Education, Healthcare, Housing, Energy & Industry, Environment, Water, Transport and Philanthropy. Within these areas the number of projects was flexible and the interface had to allow for the addition of new projects at a later date.

Brief | To produce a fully interactive iBook version of the novel

The author Sally Gardner, wanted to show a little of what it’s like to be dyslexic. To show that it is a gift, not something to be cured. The hero of her book is a dyslexic and she shows with great skill that his world is not so different to our own.

We were asked to take the hugely popular novel and turn it into a complete interactive iBook, bringing the story to life on a whole new level. We ensured we used a Dyslexic friendly font and background colour and incorporated videos and audio clips into the iBook. We also included animation of a dyslexic reading experience. Quizzes, writing prompts and dyslexia examples were all included in this multi touch iBook.

We worked closely with LEGO Education to build 3 interactive books for teachers. The guides contained information and lesson ideas as well as resources for the teachers to use in their classrooms.

Brief | To design a template and 2 books for a computing series

Working with the Author Steve Bunce, we created 2 books for children to learn computing in line with the new curriculum. We needed a way for the lessons in the book to flow logically through the book and to give teachers the guidance required at each stage. We created a horizontal flowchart that ran along the top of the book highlighting each step of the lesson. The books have been downloaded more than 3000 times from Apple’s iBooks Store.

Brief | To design and produce a series of digital Learning books

With the client creating a fresh look at connected learning, a new interactive design style was needed for this series of digital books. Children using these books were encouraged to explore the pages where pop-overs would provide additional information, interesting facts, experiments and fun quizzes, while the photography provided a strong visual appeal. There were hidden sounds and pop ups to encourage a thorough exploration of the pages.

Stephen Perse Foundation were embarking on a series of books on the iPad for their students. We created the template and styling and then worked with their in-house designer on the first 5 books to get them trained up. Since then they have been producing titles regularly based on our initial concepts.
